Sailing experience
Why Peace & Sails?
Because we learn the sea at sea. At Peace & Sails, sailing experience is built at the helm on real passages: from preparing the boat for sea to night sailing, from anchoring to applying the collision regulations.
Sailing experience and routesPreparing the boat for sea
Pre-departure checks of engine, rigging, sails, navigation instruments and safety equipment.
Boat handling
Stern-to mooring, lazy lines and controlled manoeuvres in wind and tight marinas.
Sailing under canvas
Trimming for the wind angle, tacking and gybing, reefing as the wind builds.
Anchoring
Reading the seabed, working out scope, confirming the anchor has set and keeping an anchor watch.
Night sailing
Recognising lights and navigation lights, watch systems, keeping a lookout by eye and by instrument.
Collision regulations
Applying the COLREG rules on right of way, encounters and sound signals.
Routes
Every route is a story, every passage a new experience
Charter routes are week-long coastal passages you can sail on Safir. Sailing experience routes describe longer voyages to the Aegean, the Adriatic and across the Mediterranean, and delivery planning.
